Office of the Executive Director - State Chief Information Officer

On July 1, 2014, the Agency for State Technology and the office of the Chief Information Officer were created by HB 7073.

Eric Larson was appointed the Executive Director/Chief Information Officer for the Agency for State Technology (AST) on March 7, 2017.

The Chief Information Officer sets information technology (IT) policy and direction for the State of Florida. The State CIO is an advisor to the Governor on technology issues.

The business model for state government is changing and state agencies must work together to enhance collective efforts and maximize impact.  The CIO is working to evolve the state’s approach to IT investment and oversight to reflect this new reality. The office strives for balance, transparency and collaboration as it seeks to increase IT coordination and compliance, identify efficiencies and strengthen connections with agency business leaders.

The CIO’s unique role is to:  

Together with the Governor’s office of Policy and Budget the CIO will bring a big picture view of agency investments and strategies, assuring that agency investments will fit into an enterprise view of IT.
